Molly Dean
Thursday, September 9, 2010 - 10:00pm
Just a day after completing a Sound Arts degree in 2008, Molly Dean hopped a plane and spent the next five months in Alaska convening with nature and writing new music. Molly returned to the lower 48 with restored energy and a battery of new songs and immediately jumped back on the stage. Always known for her unique, genre-defying live performances, Molly continued to captivate audiences, incorporating the RC 50 Loop station into her shows to create rich sonic tapestries.
Awarded an emerging songwriter’s grant by the Grove Foundation, Molly headed to the studio to record her 3rd full-length album, set for release in spring 2010. Now writing for both guitar and piano, the primacy of her sultry vocals continues to drive her songs with sincerity and delicate passion. Her music has been described as a "deceptively simple" and her presence "enrapturing"- a songstress that eschews archetypal female folkisms with sexy, subtle rebellion.
Molly Dean has opened for revered artists such as Keri Noble, Michelle Branch, Pat Donahue, Billy McLaughlin and Daphne Willis and was recognized as KFAI’s Woman Folk Artist of the month in December 2008.

Adam Levy
Thursday, September 16, 2010 - 10:00pm
The art of songwriting continues to find home in the music of Adam Levy. Known best for his pop-rock craftsmanship that’s guided The Honeydogs through 10 acclaimed releases, and more recently for the whimsical kid’s rock band Bunny Clogs, Levy is now embarking on a new project, Liminal Phase, that combines old and new sounds with electronic and acoustic instrumentation. These chamber arrangements featuring cello, oboe and harmonium and a DJ reveal subtle complexities in Levy’s songwriting that embrace the tenets of a rich folk music history—harkening back to Nick Drake and channeling Dylan without ever waxing redundant.
In addition to time and love spent on The Honeydogs, Bunny Clogs and Liminal Phase, Adam has also begun recording with another new project “And the Professors” featuring a string quartet, members of the Heiruspecs, Mystery Palace, and Holly Munoz from Aviette. Adam teaches popular music history, songwriting, audio engineering and mentors students at the Institute of Production and Recording and the MacPhail School of Music. For fun Adam heads up the ambitious 9 piece soul cover band, Hookers $ Blow.
Walker Fields
Monday, September 20, 2010 - 10:00pm
Inspired by folk music and the delta blues Walker Fields plays fast finger picking guitar and mellow acoustic numbers. Taking cues from legends like Mississippi Fred McDowell, Muddy Waters and Bob Dylan, Fields plays a hybrid of Americana music like no other. Some have compared his sound to Greg Brown.

Emot
Thursday, September 30, 2010 - 10:00pm
Featuring members of No Bird Sing, Aviette, and Junkyard Empire. Two Drunks", the debut album from local trio Emot, is an atmospheric folk-rock platter that strikes a nice balance between the precise pop chops of its backing players and the wayward charm of its frontman (Matt Leavitt's voice is ragged but right)--Rob van Alstyne, Metromix Minneapolis
